My quick answer: yes.  I would, of course, replace the entire bridge.  I would also change the electrolytics unless they have have been changed recently.  Might as well get it all straightened out.  I think I would also put a inrush current limiter in the AC input line, add a 3-wire polarized line cord and make sure the hot side of the ac line is the one being fused and switched.

Subject: [HEATH-TEMPE] hp23 pwr supply problems....

I have an HP23 that blew one rectifier in the four-rectifier full wave bridge....I have my manual at my 2nd home three hundred miles away...can anyone tell me what the part number is for that diode?  Or a suitable replacement?  Would an 1N4007 work?
