I'd suggest using one of the CopperCap replacements available here:

Subject: [HEATH-TEMPE] 5R4 and 5U4 solid state replacement on an Apache or
Marauder

Does anyone knows the pros and cons of replacing the 2 5R4 and one 5U4 on
the Heatkit TX-1 or the HX-10 with a home made replacement as described by
K6MAY in the following link http://www.k6may.com/CollinsTip2.shtml??? I just
ordered the parts from Mouser Electronics and would like to have a second
opinion from de Heathkiters................Pat PS it seems to me that just
the heat elimination and power load on the power transformer filament
portion is a plus.
