Off topic: Crimp connectors

Troubleshooting the valves for my sprinkler system this weekend. This job
was "professionally done". The wiring for the control solenoids was simply
two wires twisted together, and wrapped with a big wad of electrical tape. I
have no idea if this is standard procedure, but unwrapping the electric tape
yielded green dusty rusty blobs, held together with wet, brittle tape with
no stick left. So....I'll have a fun weekend coming up with wire cutters,
strippers, soldering iron, and shrink wrap tubing to fix the mess left by
the pros.
Yes, I would say soldering is always better than pressure-fit connection.
PS....does anyone know if that is standard practice for outdoor wiring
(sprinkler valves)???
....Dave
