>From what I have been able to determine, at least one of the 2N2553s, and one of the 
2N2869s, if not both, are bad, and the DTG-600 is weak if not altogther bad.

I found an outfit on the web, Talon Electronics, which had the 2N2553s for sale for a 
somewhat reasonable price.

I found 2 ea 2N301s for a very good price on eBay, and a DTG-600 for what I thought was 
pretty high ($28.00) on eBay.

All these are NOS or NIB.

I used The Octopus to check them with since I don't (yet) have a working transistor tester or 
curve tracer.

Now we will see.
