Chris: If I hadn't already had the Dick Smith instrument, I would have bought
one of those new "blue" jobs.
If you do any repair and/or restoration of vintage gear at all, you cannot
believe the time and aggravation you will save by using it. It is well worth the
cost.
As I said, I only wish I had thought to use my Dick Smith meter BEFORE my
latest fiasco with the IP-27. Rats! Live and learn...even at my age (70).
Needless to say, the ESR meter is going to get heavy use from now on.
One of the very best features of such an instrument is that you do NOT need
to remove the cap from the circuit to test it.
