Hi Sandy
 
1. The horizontal and vertical amplifiers are virtually identical DC wise  
so measure the voltage of each corresponding part of each circuit and see if 
 there are any differences.
 
2. If your unit uses carbon composition (solid carbon) resistors then  
measure the resistance of each one as they age high over the years and change  
any that are out of spec. You may need to measure them with the meter leads 
both  ways round because of the effects of the transistors in circuit.
