[Heath] [Heathkit] MT-1 alignment problem

Before fooling around with additional capacitors, I would definitely check the existing capacitors. My original MT-1, back in 1965, and my present MT-1, both aligned on all 5-bands without any problems.

Hi, guys,
Working on aligning my MT-1 which has been on the shelf a long time. I can
get plenty of power out into the dummy load/WM, but I figured I'd better
calibrate the VFO to make sure exactly where I am.
I've discovered that for 20 and 10 meters, there isn't near enough
bandspread. With the capacitors at minimum mesh (max cap), I'm still way
short on bandspread on the L side. the 80 meter band was OK, but the cap is
almost at max there too.
Seems like I've got to add some fixed capacitance to the coils on the bands
in order to stretch things out. Problem is, how much? I don't want to
cut-and-try myself crazy on this. Has anyone else on the list run into a
similar problem with their rig?
Thanks and 73, Sandy AC1Y

Scotsmen walk about 900 miles each year.
A Scotsman drinks around 45 gallons of Whisky a year.
Scotsmen get about 20 Miles Per Gallon.
