A little heat on the aluminum shaft from a solder gun would help as well. It might loosen up some old grease that is real thick and sticky now. Just not enough heat to melt anything plastic inside the pot though!
Tim N7XAU Hi Rob A very thin penetrating oil or even parafin and some patience should work but may take a while. The pot on my SB610 does have a small amount of sideways as well as back and forward play in the rotatable shaft so there should be room for the oil to wick into the gap. If you can get the control out of the 610 then try suspending the shaft end in penetrating oil or soak a piece of tissue in the oil and wrap it around the control shaft and leave for a while. Give it a twist now and then and it should eventually clear. The problem will be more difficult if the blockage is caused by corrosion instead of old dried grease. 73

non use - but at one time it worked smoothly (it's the ON/OFF switch + pot
on my SB-610).

Are there any standard solutions for this?

Thanks,
