[Heath] [Heathkit] SB-401 dial stops hard at 4-1/4 turns

The rotating "fingers" that are on the shaft immediately outside the LMO housing often get "stuck".  Lubricate them with something like WD-40.

You may have to use a screwdriver to get the fingers unstuck.  Just turn the LMO to where it gets stuck and then "back off" about half a turn.  Spray the lubricant on the fingers and then use the screwdriver to push the last finger on the shaft.  That should loosen the finger.

Again, this is a pretty common problem with the Heath LMOs.

If that doesn't help, then you may have to remove the LMO to get the fingers unstuck.

Have you checked the hard stop in the other direction? It should be about 15-20 KHz below 00. If it goes a turn it more below the dial has skipped a revolution in the groove.
