Hi Glen,
You write in your PDF on the tube type LMO:
“Next, one of the “L” shaped side panels has to be removed. It is best to remove the panel on the same side as the oscillator tube. There are no internal parts connected to this side whereas there are components attached to the other side...”
Can you tell us which side of the solid state LMO used on the SB-303 should be removed similar to the above instructions, please? I am not sure what the subtle differences are, if any, for disassembling/reassembling that LMO compared to the tube version, but would like to know. I have a SB-401 / SB-303.
Thanks,
-- Rob

The tube type LMOs are all TRW, at least that I have ever seen! There are 2-different variable capacitors used by TRW and both types definitely need the braid added as well as needing to be lubricated again. Both versions, of the tube-type LMOs are shown in my article on adding the braid at the following URL:

The solid-state LMOs that were used in the SB-303 and SB-102 have at least 1 additional manufacturer besides TRW. The TRW LMOs were used in virtually all SB-303 receivers but the SB-102 had a lot of the non-TRW LMOs and, unfortunately, the non-TRW LMOs usually do not "track" very well.
