Easy, just use your frequency counter to read the frequency of your signal generator. Then, use the signal, from the generator, to calibrate the VFO.

Subject: [Heath] Alignment Help Needed
I have just finished rebuilding a Heathkit HW-10 Shawnee 6-meter AM radio. I was able to align the receiver section without any problems. However, in reading the VFO calibration and transmitter alignment procedures, I find that I don't have the proper equipment to do this as stated in the manual. There are two possible routes to take, one using crystals for the low and high ends of the band and and another using a frequency meter. I only have one crystal, 8.400 MHz. I don't have a frequency meter. All I have is an RF signal generator, a VTVM and a frequency counter. Is there another way to carry out these procedures possibly utilizing the equipment I have?
Doug
