[Heath] HW 101 VFO

As I remember the HW 101 did not have any tubes in the VFO.  What you are 
describing is similar to what I had happen to mine many years ago and it 
turned out to be the little square transistor inside the vfo box.  I believe 
it was brown in color. Maybe you can find something to replace it if that is 
what turns out to be the problem.
