I agree. Since most Heathkits are assembled by the owner the construction
is always suspect in a “new to you” unit. Often unsoldered, incorrect, or
missing wiring is the culprit. Another common issue is incorrect component
installation. Your case with the multiple reversed wafers is more extreme
than most I’ve encountered.
