Hi Ken
I have always liked the SB line of Heathkit units.
I currently have operational:
SB101 with an additional band position for Top Band
SB310 completely re-engineered for 1.8-30MHz ham bands except 60m and 
including FM
SB401 re-engineered to provide grid blocked keying and an eletronic T/R 
switch and including top band
The latter two are interlinked with RG62 and control lines to provide 
full break-in and monitor side tone on CW
As an eternal optimist who likes a challenge I am currently 
re-engineering an SB101 for all HF standard modes and bands except 60m, 
improved spurious products and dynamic range and all electronic T/R 
control. This is a complete rebuild job from scratch!
