There was absolutely nothing alarming in the syslog except the mlppp
bundle which had the first t-1 (among other member links) bouncing
constantly.

Can you paste in the output of 'show chassis hardware'. Do you have any
ATM2 pic's in the router by chance? I'd also check the syslog messages
for anything related to this issue.
