Yes , we have name server set up in our configuration. But I don't know why this
would generate the message ?

Eric,
The way to see this would be to setup a syslog file that would
either log "interactive-commands any" or be set at "any info" to catch
the ftp session activity. As for the "getpeername(ftpd)" this looks
like the router (ftpd in particular) is trying to get a DNS name for a
session. Are you running DNS on this router? (i.e. system name-server)
