[j-nsp] Juniper M-series throughput questions

I have some questions regarding how the M-series chassis throughput is
determined. I see that the website claims 3.2 Gbps full-duplex throughput
for an M40e FPC. Of course, that means that 4 GE modules will have
oversubscribed the slot.
Does this mean that you only have 3.2 Gbps into the chassis? In other
words, if I'm forwarding data from one port to another on the same FPC, am
I still constrained to 3.2 Gbps? What part of the architecture is limiting
the forwarding throughput for the FPC?
Also, how is the M40e SFM throughput calculated? Is this simply a mutliple
of the throughput of each FPC, or actual packet throughput for the SFM?
