Joe,
    in 7.2+ a new UI knob "match" has been added to "system syslog
    file/user/host". This knob specifies the regular expression to be
    used for filtering messages by syslog

    example:

<-- you want to suppress login josefb

Sep  6 09:33:11  Vienna-re0 mgd[36056]: UI_AUTH_EVENT: Authenticated user 'josefb' at permission level 'j-super-user'
Sep  6 09:33:11  Vienna-re0 mgd[36056]: UI_LOGIN_EVENT: User 'josefb' login, class 'j-super-user' [36056]

<-- you add the match which excludes josefb

[edit system syslog file messages]
josefb at Vienna-re0# show
any any;
authorization info;
kernel any;
match "!(.*josefb.*)";

      hope this helps
      Josef
