Yes, the interface is hard-down. (Like no cable is plugged in)

brainy at cr0.muc.de> show interfaces ge-1/3/0 extensive | grep errors
  Input errors:
Errors: 0, Drops: 0, Framing errors: 0, Runts: 0, Policed discards:
60399, L3 incompletes: 4731, L2 channel errors: 5657, L2 mismatch
timeouts: 0,
FIFO errors: 0, Resource errors: 0
  Output errors:
Carrier transitions: 1, Errors: 0, Drops: 0, Collisions: 0, Aged
packets: 0, FIFO errors: 0, HS link CRC errors: 0, MTU errors: 0,
Resource errors: 0
    CRC/Align errors 0 0
    FIFO errors 0 0

And this stats were NOT reset.

Other side:

cas1.muc.de>show int gi0/2 | include error
     0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored
0 output errors, 0 collisions, 5 interface resets

As you can see everything looks fine.

We will replace the cable, the dampening units and the Gbic tomorrow
morning.

Regards,

 Joerg
