contrary to the above
"system snapshot" means a snapshot from currently active media to the second
media.
If you are booted from flash - snapshot works in the direction Flash -> Disk
If you are booted from disk - snapshot works in reverse direction Disk ->
Flash

"partition" flag is only meaningful in the second case and is required when
you deploy a brand new CF for the first time.
