Hi,

Please see this:

View Bulletin PSN-2006-09-029
Title Unrecognized Power Entry Module (PEM) alarm on M7i and M10i Products Affected All M7i and M10i routing platforms running JUNOS version 8.0 or lower.
Platforms Affected JUNOS 8.x
M-series

Revision Number 1
Issue Date 2006-11-01

PSN Issue : When installing JUNOS version 8.1R1 on an M7i or M10i router, an unrecognized PEM alarm might be raised.

Alarm time Class Description
2006-07-29 23:25:29 HKT Major PEM 1 Unrecognized for the platform
2006-07-29 23:25:28 HKT Major PEM 0 Unrecognized for the platform

The problem is caused by an incorrect configuration on the PEM Assembly ID. These alarms can be ignored; there is no functional impact to the router.

Solution: After the software has been upgraded to 8.1R2 or higher, the PEM Assembly ID is automatically updated to the correct value. No user intervention is required.

Solution Implementation: Customers are encouraged to upgrade to JUNOS Release 8.1R2 or higher (when available) in order to avoid these error messages.

Benny

2 alarms currently active

Both of these are 1GE Gbic-based interfaces which apear to be working
fine at this moment (i'm working remotely on this m7i).
