  Yep, that's just the spec.  The clock is supplied by the chipset.  
If I'd planned ahead I would have used the memory I pulled from my 
SSG 550 in my J2300, but I'd already purchased more (identical sticks 
from Crucial).  It's DDR (i.e. DDR1), non-ECC.  If you use a memory 
selector, just choose an Intel 845G motherboard.  I prefer Crucial as 
Juniper uses Micron sticks, but that's just paranoia.
  Theoretically the chipset will support >1GB, but I haven't tried 
more in the J2300.  While the forwarding process sucks up a 
tremendous amount or RAM, I doubt >1GB (to achieve >512MB free when 
idle/unconfigured) would buy you much.
