Hi list,

warming up the topic once again ;)

Scenario: two routers connected
using 2x GIGE. Both of them having
a loopback interface. Now, either
router has two static routes for
the loopback interface of the opposite
router.

I understand that the default hashed
mode is distributing the sessions
roughly even across both links.

Perhaps my way of judging on this
lacks something but when I'm pinging
the far end loopback across the
router with the other loopback from
a firewall, the traffic always picks
the next hop which is listed first
in the routing table, even when using
multiple pings from different source
adresses.

This also happens when announcing
the loopback interface via OSPF w/
a maximum-paths of 4.

Am I missing something? Is there
a switch that enables ECMP globally
for static routing or in general?

Does the implementation of ECMP
consider ICMP as something else?

Thanks and best regards,

sven03
