GRE Keepalives are *still* not supported? I remember asking for this
in an enhancement request almost 5 years ago... geez...

Does BFD work on GRE?

?
M10i------STM1-------Upstream Provider
?
run bgp between both router.?This stm1 will be the trunk and our upstream
initially will provide perMeg basis in this trunk...initally 1xE1 until the STM1
trunk full capasity. Interconnection is STM1 but the internet?provided by
upstream is E1. may i know how is the setup here. please help me....please

Not as a protocol to bring down the GRE tunnel.

You can use OSPF with BFD though and make the tunnel endpoints known via
OSPF.
I know it's not ideal, but it'll work.

There's two possibilities here:

a) You're running a channelized STM-1 PIC, which can get you
   n x E1 logical circuits.

b) You're running a clear-channel STM-1 PIC, and your
upstream will likely use policing to limit your bandwidth
to/from them to 2Mbps increments, or as your contract
   permits.

I'd recommend the latter, less configuration hassle given
the application.

Channelized STM-1 makes more sense for customer PE-side
customer aggregation in n x E1 increments.

Cheers,

Mark.
