You're talking about multiple miliseconds of propagation latency, and
one very very specific application (which doesn't even demand a specific
latency in and of itself, just that you are "better than the other guy"
so you can out-trade him). When it comes to microseconds of latency in
the forwarding plane of a switch/router, I'm far less convinced that
this is a real issue.
I'm sure you can find people who will vehemently testify that their quad
shielded 4" thick $300 Monster HDMI cable makes their tv's picture
noticably better too, but that doesn't make it true.
