I just dropped some MRV CWDM optics (SFP-GDCWZX-xx-R) into an MX80 and they work fine.

They show up as unknown vendor:

comlinx at bras1-bne# run show chassis hardware
....
      Xcvr 0 0 NON-JNPR 1JJ680083602548 SFP-SX
      Xcvr 9 NON-JNPR A28T000100 SFP-LH
      Xcvr 0 0 NON-JNPR 1JJ680083602518 SFP-SX
      Xcvr 9 NON-JNPR A28T000101 SFP-LH

But you can see more detail in the pic information:

comlinx at bras1-bne# run show chassis pic pic-slot 1 fpc-slot 1
....
PIC port information:
                          Fiber Xcvr vendor
Port Cable type type Xcvr vendor part number Wavelength
  0 GIGE 1000SX MM FIBERXON INC. FTM-8012C-SLG 850 nm
9 GIGE 1000LH SM MRV COMM, INC. SFP-GDCWZX-51 1511 nm

The MX also picks up the digital diagnostics fine with:
