No, not always.
Saying what you're sending on the phone is questionable.
Having it displayed in e-mail is more helpful, especially if
you can help the other end with which commands to run to get
the information you need.
The assumption is always that the other end may be confused
or have less clue. But over and above everything else,
general clue has increased in the last decade.
