Back in the "good old days" where JUNOS didn't sport signed binaries,
there were multiple instances of people running "custom software" on
JUNOS REs. One example is e.g. a "mtr" package used until Juniper
finally properly integrated mtr in form of "traceroute monitor" CLI.
Another example (that's being rumored, but confirmed by some JNPR
guy[1]) is some dude (RAS? :-)) running a Doom server on a JUNOS RE. :)
Those days the fun is gone and the JUNOS kernel executes only
Juniper-signed code. Nontrivial to slip in own stuff.
