[j-nsp] Junos SNMPv3 Daemon Issue

Hi all.

Has anyone else ever seen an issue where the SNMPv3 service
on Juniper devices suddenly forgets the password(s) you were
using for MD5, DES56 or both?

Jan 6 15:30:01.900 2014 hostname snmpd[1107]:
%DAEMON-4-LIBJSNMP_NS_LOG_WARNING: WARNING: Authentication
failed for username

The fix, here, is to re-type the passwords and commit,
again.

In other cases, commiting a separate configuration logs SNMP
complaining about needing to reconfigured:

Dec 19 09:17:13.599 2013 hostname snmpd[1074]:
%DAEMON-4-SNMPD_ENGINE_ID_CHANGED: Warning: Local engine ID
has changed. Passwords for all the users under [edit snmp v3
usm local-engine] need to be reconfigured.

I've seen these issues from the first day I started using
Junos (2007), and it's carrying through to current code. I
think it's time I started looking at what this could be :-).

Anybody know what this? I'm reluctant to open a case with
JTAC just yet, as we know how well that will go. If I hear
of other experiences, at least, I might be able to phrase my
case in a manner that actually yields a result with JTAC
:-).

Cheers,

Mark.
