I don't think RE connects atypically in MX204. RE is ETH+PCI
connected, not fabric.

Can you elaborate on the corner cases?

It is true that MX204 is fabricless, like MX80 was. Which ostensibly
is a good thing,
as you could use both fab+wan serdes purely for wan, doubling the wan
density while
halving the average lookup and buffer delay performance
