Hello everyone,

We ran into an issue while setting up a DHCP server that will be used for
multiple vlans on several EX4300 switches. I am not sure if the issue we
are seeing is because the server happens to reside on the same vlan as some
of the test host machines, but what we are getting at the DHCP server side
is the DHCP-Relay agent packets and also DHCP broadcast packets.

We have setup what I thought was DHCP snooping to prevent the broadcast
traffic, but still seeing it. Does anyone have a working example of a DHCP
relay setup on these switches that they can share?

Our setup is that each of the ports is an access port except between
switches which is trunked with a native vlan set for those. Each host
should DHCP their address and the switch relay it to the server. That is
happening, but also the DHCP broadcast packets are also being sent to the
server so we see two requests for each host.

    <mgmt switch core> ---------------
      / \ \
<mgmt-sw01> <mgmt-sw02> <mgmt-sw03>
| \ | \ \
dhcp hosts1-30 hosts1-30 hosts1-30
svr VL29 VL29&30 VL30&31
VL29

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

-Lee
