I have an open req for a senior sales engineer, reporting to me.  I  
have appended the job description below, please feel free to reply or  
to forward this to any qualified individuals you know.

Ipanema is headquartered in Paris, which means regular trips there for  
meetings with excellent food and wine are a requirement of this  
job. :-)  We have a terrific group of people in our Waltham office,  
including industry veteran sales, support and R&D types.  Our system  
is unique in its architecture and capabilities, and overcomes many of  
the traditional complexities associated with managing and operating  
large enterprise networks.  The company is growing fast on the  
strength of some cool new features we've recently introduced, and it  
should be a good ride for the right person.

P.S. We define a very large enterprise network as hundreds to  
thousands of sites, and we are the only ones with a system that is  
actually deployed and controlling/improving application performance  
for multi-thousand site networks.

Senior Sales Engineer
Ipanema Technologies is the established leader in WAN optimization  
systems for very large enterprise networks. We are seeking a  
resourceful and self-starting Sales Engineer (SE). The SE will:
Be willing to travel frequently to customer sites within North  
America, and to Europe for training and meetings
Work closely with Ipanema's North American account managers and  
presales colleagues world-wide
Be based in our Waltham, MA office and will report to the CTO North  
America

Main responsibilities:
The SE will be responsible for assessing the technical value of sales  
opportunities, which are initiated by the Account Managers and  
principals of Ipanema.  Specifically, the SE must:
Understand and be conversant with the company, its solutions, and  
products
Participate in pre- and post-sales customer meetings in person, via  
telephone and via Webex/LiveMeeting
Successfully design, configure, install and manage demos and pilots
Provide feedback to the product management team and serve as a  
customer advocate
Contribute to the completion of RFIs/RFPs in coordination with the  
sales team
Conduct product training for end-users and partners
Stay abreast of competitors and their products and be able to  
successfully position Ipanema’s solution
Travel as necessary to customer sites

Required skills and experience:
Background in one of (a) managed services for enterprises at a telco,  
ISP or MSP, (b) WAN application acceleration, or (c) enterprise  
network management
Solid knowledge of WAN and LAN network design
In depth knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol family, along with  
underlying transport mechanisms such as DSL, MPLS, carrier Ethernet,  
VLANs, routing and switching
Application behavior knowledge, including of some subset of CIFS,  
MAPI, Sharepoint, HTTP/SSL, VoIP, streaming video, Citrix, and SAP
Must be able to configure, administer and troubleshoot Solaris, Linux  
and Windows systems
Understanding of the 7-layer ISO protocol model
Advanced network and application troubleshooting skills
Strong communication (written and oral) skills
Strong organizational skills
Enjoys working on a team
Understanding of the use and deployment of Classes of Service (CoS) is  
a plus, as is knowledge of WAN optimization/acceleration/shaping  
products

CCIE certification desired, but not required
