Since this was a partial fiber cut this morning, perhaps they had to complete the cut to repair it this afternoon and that knocked Andrew Bunde out?

Field Services were able to locate and pull slack from the second hand-hole and are preparing a trench. The splice repair team is on site and splicing activities will commence shortly. The ETR is undetermined at this time.

Field Services have reported that the West hand-hole has been excavated; however slack fiber is not available in the hand-hole.  Field Services have located the East hand-hole and are beginning excavation activities to identify slack fiber at that location.  The fiber splicing repair teams are still en route to the site and are expected to arrive by 20:00 GMT.  Once the slack fiber has been located and the repair teams are on-site splicing activities will commence.  The estimated time to repair is undetermined.

*** CASCADED EXTERNAL NOTES 08-Feb-2017 16:51:32 GMT From CASE: - Event Upon further investigation, Field Services has reported that the issue has been isolated to a partial fiber cut. The partial fiber cut occurred as Level 3 Field Services were cutting a hand-hole into the duct as part of pre-implementation work for an upcoming fiber relocation. The Fiber duct was believed to have been empty and therefore, no impact was expected. Fiber splicing repair teams are still en route and have provided an estimated time for arrival (ETA) of 19:00 GMT. An estimated time for repair (ETR) is still unknown at this time.

 

02/08/2017 15:42:29 GMT - 02/08/2017 14:52:53 GMT - The Transport NOC has reported that a suspected fiber cut between Niles, MI and Gary, IN is impacting unprotected transport services.  The Transport NOC is engaging Field Services for further investigations. Please be advised that updates for this event will be relayed at a minimum of hourly unless otherwise noted. The information conveyed hereafter is associated to live troubleshooting effort and as the discovery process evolves through to service resolution, ticket closure, or post incident review, details may evolve.

*** CASCADED EXTERNAL NOTES 08-Feb-2017 15:54:56 GMT From CASE: - Event The Transport NOC reported that the fiber cut is due to a ground crew cutting through a duct that was suspected to be empty. Field Services are en route and will be repairing the fiber in the existing duct, however; there is no estimated time for repair at this time.
