[VoiceOps] ICTFAX - configuration

I have a sinking feeling this is the typical open source solution that you have to piece together and work through with much googling.

I won't be much help. I could see it burning up a few work days piecing it all together unless I found a howto that was decent.

this is running on Freeswitch (and this is the first time im touching freeswitch)

seems from reading online (http://ictfax.org/content/ictfax-admin-guide), that the SIP Trunk needs to be manually created on freeswitch,

but ive never setup a sip trunk in freeswitch, and i dont even see the freeswitch directory in the usr/local/ directory

Yes.. most sip trunk I setup use the IP address of each side to auth each other. In some rare cases with a Mitel PBX to Taqua I had to setup a username/pass that I tell the PBX vendor to register with.. but the Taqua does not care what password it is. It just wants the process of registering to function for some odd reason. Only Mitel.. no others.


ICTFAX.. is using freeswitch I assume (why i said freepbx I dunno. Probably an interface I used a decade ago). So what is the far side running? That will determine how you setup ictfax/freeswitch.

there is another field "status", which i assume enable/disable the trunk
and register tell the trunk if it needs to register? vs just using it as a gateway that doesn't require a SIP Registration ?


im looking for anyone on this list that wouldn't mind being bothered with a few questions regarding

The dial string is where to route stuff to. sofia/gateway/%trunk/%phone for example... sofia is the freepbx sip stack or something. Forgive me. I do not use FreePBX.

has anyone successfully configured ICTFAX on centos ?

i am trying to follow the guide, and im stuck with getting the SIP Trunk registered,

I want to register the ictfax to a SIP Trunk,
I have the trunk information, (host, username, password)
but in the GUI it is asking for other information which I don't know what it is, for example the "Dial String" and the "Register" field.

Username, I assume is the username used for the SIP Registration
Password, I assume is the password used for the SIP Registration
Host, I assume is the Server Address, can I use a Fully Qualified Domain Name in this field ? or it has to be a IP Value ?
Port, I assume I enter for example 5070, or whatever port the SIP Server is set to listen on
add prefix, it has 00 in  it. I assume I don't need this, unless the SIP Trunk carrier is asking to prefix all calls with a special value

Dial string and Register fields i dont know what to put in there, and leaving it blank does not register the SIP Trunk
