Ironically, the most common solution is to cache the data, and correct certain entries on your end and give them an infinite lifetime.

Over time, this adds another layer of distortion to the data.

Third-party CNAM providers who go "above and beyond" the carrier directory landscape can get really creative with where they source the data. Someone once joked to me that they get some of their data from Facebook and Ashley Madison. I'm not convinced they were entirely kidding.
