[cisco-voip] FXO port configuration to a Valcom paging system

Some of the Valcom units do require an FXO port... when I had a site
installed in Houston I asked the cabling company for a Bogen unit for
overhead paging. They asked if they could substitute a Valcom because
that's what they preferred... I stupidly said yes without checking the
specs and came to turn up time when I realized that the thing had an
FXS interface in it so it required an FXO port... was none too happy
that I had to burn a port on the gateway rather than using one of the
dozens of ATAs laying around.

Same here. Pretty sure you should use an FXS for that. In addition, we
had a lot of trouble with ours and MGCP. H323 worked just fine though.
Not sure what the issue was, but H323 solved it.

Not sure if an fxo would work? I use fxs for all my paging.. Valcom,
bogen, etc...

We have a Valcom page system and I have set up my FXO 2/0/0 ->
!
dial-peer voice 999200 pots
application mgcpapp
port 2/0/0
!
However, when I dial I get a pause and a then a fast busy. I
have set the port sub unit to the device pool, etc. I have a route for
89 as the page number. On the Nortel you dial 89 then 1 through 4 for
the zones. Any thoughts?
