[cisco-voip] SRST automatically set to G.729 CODEC instead of G.711

For your first issue (calls outbound using G.729), check to see what 
region you have the voice gateway in.  Sounds like you probably have the 
voice gateway in a different region than your phones (within 
CallManager) and the region settings are for G.729 between them.
