[cisco-voip] H.323 vs MGCP

I think it also depends on the skill set of the end user, if they aren't
very strong with routers/IOS and have many FXS or T1 ports then MGCP is
usually easier for them to work with than dial peers.

In the past Mobility Manager/Voice XML and fax T38 had me sticking with
H323 as my defacto.

Call me old school, but I strongly prefer H323 over MGCraP, unless it is
a PBX to PBX link where thousands of dial peers would be necessary.

Subject: [cisco-voip] H.323 vs MGCP

All,

In the past I have had MGCP setup for my gateways but recently took over
a system with h.323 for the gateways. The gateways are only connected to
and used by CCM and I like the MGCP abilities to control the various
ports directly in CM. Is there any benefit to keeping them as H.323? If
not is it difficult to convert between one or the other?

Thanks!
