[cisco-voip] GK trunk in CCM as backup

Oops I meant, "...points to a route list that contains two route groups,
one for each GK trunk..."

Sheeraz,

Let's keep cisco-voip in the loop here to broaden the audience.

I don't have a lot of real world experience with GK's and I'm still
struggling with understanding the call flow here. You have mentioned
you're not sure how to use the second GK 'for CCM'. Are you looking to
use the second GK for calls from CCM? If so you would use a route
pattern that points to a route list that contains a route group that
contains both GK trunks in CCM that I mentioned before. But you
mentioned you are not using a route pattern to send calls to the GK so
I'm confused on exactly what you are trying to accomplish in relation to
CCM using a backup GK....

Hi keith,

Many thanks for your reply. Yeah I guess I really made you confuse n
sorry for this. I try to explain you the scenario again. I am running a
Cisco IP Contact Centre in which I have requirement from customer to use
one Gatekeeper as backup and no HERP to apply. I this scenario some
components of IPCC make a trunk with gatekeeper like CVP is used for
call queuing and CCM is being used for Call Landing on the IP Phone. Now
the problem I am facing is how to use the 2nd Gatekeeper as backup in
this scenario. I have option in CVP to define multiple Gatekeepers with
precedence but I don't have much idea for CCM. Here is the config of my
one Gatekeeper with CCM.

gatekeeper

 zone local <Gateway Host Name > <Domain Name> <IP address of gateway >
<10.100.34.5>

no zone subnet <Gateway Host Name > 10.0.0.0/24 enable

zone subnet <Gateway Host Name > 10.100.0.0/16 enable

 zone prefix <Gateway Host Name > 2519* gw-priority 10 ACCBNK-VG
<Gateway Host Name>

 zone prefix <Gateway Host Name > 2521. gw-priority 10 aeadsvp013-cs1a
aealsvp014-cs1c <Name of all CVPs using for call queuing>

 zone prefix <Gateway Host Name > 2.. gw-priority 10 INJAZAT_Trunk_1
<Name of Gatekeeper Trunk created in CCM>

 gw-type-prefix 1#*

 gw-type-prefix 2#* default-technology

 no shutdown

Now what should I configure on 2nd GK or can I enter the 2nd GK Trunk in
this GK with preference and same Config on the backup GK.

Sheeraz,

If you are sending calls to the GK's via dial-peers in an h323 GW and
not directly to a GK through CCM then create another dial-peer to the
second GK with a higher preference value (which gives that dial-peer a
lower priority).

I very well could be misunderstanding your setup, but as far as I can
think you would only be able to have a backup GK either via route groups
in a route list in CCM or multiple dial-peers with different
preferences. I'm sure there are others here than have much more GK
experience than I have.

Hope this helps.

Keith,

Thanks for the reply I checked your mail. I am not using the Rout
pattern for GK, route pattern contains the IP of GW which has different
IP address. In fact I am using GK for IPCC. In that scenario you still
advice to do this.

Sheeraz

Create the second trunk in CCM for the second gatekeeper and add it to
its own route group (assuming the first one is its own route group as
well). The route pattern for calls to the GK's should be pointing to a
route list that contains both route groups, one rg for each GK. If the
first GK goes down then CCM will send the calls to the second GK which
will be the second rg in the route list.

Hello every one,

I have a scenario 2 gatekeepers with different subnet mask are
configured and one is backup of another i.e. if first GK fails the
coming calls will start entertaining through the next one as they are
configured with precedence. Now I nee to know how this can be configure
on Call Manager 4.1. As I have a one GK trunk and it is associated with
first GK what how can I make the second GK trunk to work as backup.

Thanks
