[cisco-voip] unity incorrectly reporting the number of saved messages

Unity 5.0 / Unified Messaging / Exchange 2k3 - I have a brand new voicemail
user (his voicemail box was just created a few days ago) who's voicemail is
reporting he has over 100 saved messages. He has not received that many
voicemails to have that many saved. He has had his email box for years, and
has a lot of old saved email messages in it. Unity is apparently misreading
certain old emails and interpreting them as read voicemails. Any idea how to
remedy this?
