I recently stumbled upon a Cisco Press book entitled:
Inside Cisco IOS Software Architecture [part of the CCIE study guide].
and I have to strongly recommend this to anyone running a medium
to large network. There is a excellent discussion of how IOS works
and gives a great deal of insight on how to get to the bottom of
some issues. Its almost like the cisco version of the McKuisick et
al daemon book for 4.4 BSD.
Regards,
Neil.
