Enhanced Online Insertion and Removal. You can't and don't want to
disable it. It's what lets you swap in new cards without powering
down.

The correct answer is throw away all rev1.0 MIP cards; they're old and
crufty (or actually, return to Cisco for a suitable replacement). A
good board will look like this in a "sh diag":

Slot 12:
        Physical slot 12, ~physical slot 0x3, logical slot 12, CBus 0
        Microcode Status 0x0
        Master Enable, LED, WCS Loaded
        Board is analyzed
        EEPROM format version 1
MIP controller, HW rev 1.1, board revision A0
                        ^^^^^^^^^^
Serial number: 01824738 Part number: 73-0903-08
Test history: 0x07 RMA number: 06-11-50
Flags: cisco 7000 board; 7500 compatible

Don't accept substitutes. A rev1.0 MIP board will kill your chances
of having smooth hotswapping of future cards. Just say no.

BTW, where the heck did you get such an old piece o'junk? I don't
believe Cisco has intentionally shipped such a beast in over a year.
