SPAN: Can the monitoring Ethernet card have an IP address

All:

If you setup a SPAN monitor port on a Catalyst switch, can the Ethernet
card on the server have an IP address associated with it for remote
manageability (i.e. ssh to the server to check logs)? Or do you need to
have two Ethernet cards, one for monitoring and one for remote access?
