Raymond,

That code is nearly 2 years old. The latest release is 5.3R2. I
have no idea what differences there are between 4.2 and 5.3 but AS
path description mechanism isn't one of them. This has been the same
since at least 3.1 and probably for ever. It does work.

I can't comment on why your setup isn't working without a bunch more
information on where you're using your as-path in policy-statements,
where your policy-statements are applied, etc. All this is fairly
straight forward stuff.
