I know what you mean about the herks shedding a wire now and then. We Navy
type don't do assault landings very often, but the antennas let go now and
then anyway!
We also have an E-6 (707-320) and it has 3 probes and a couple of other
e-field antennas. Also a 20,000 + foot trailing wire (as opposed to
"training wire" in my previous post!). No roof top long wires though. The
LTWA breaks now and then but we normally deploy it over the ocean.
