S-40B Question

The question about glass versus metal tubes - my understanding - and I have
not measured this scientifically but seems to me just from working with
hem - is that the metal tubes are better for a number of reasons - the
metal envelope provides RF shielding so you don't get unintended mixing,
birdies and the like; also the metal radiates heat better so they run
cooler. I think they last longer. The only problem is you can't see the
orange glow from the filament!
