S-40B Question

I've gone both ways.  In my SX-71, SX-16, and S-20R, at various times 
I've gone with all glass thinking the glass tubes ran cooler and then 
going with whatever was original: glass or metal.  I realize there are 
theoretical issues with losing the metal shielding, but I've never been 
able to notice any effect when substituting metal for glass.
