Help valuing an AR-88 that UPS destroyed last week --

Well, I guess I'm entitled to my tuppence worth of stories too.

The only recent bad experience I had was shipping a scanner via FedEx ground from California to Missouri (I think). It came smashed to smithereens. The sale price was about $110 plus shipping, so the $100 insurance limit applied. They came promptly to the delivery address, took the package, and sent me a check for $100 plus the shipping cost, all within a few days. They even sent back the broken unit, which I sold at a flea market for $15 or so. So, I actually came out a few bucks ahead!

My point is, although the unit was broken, FedEx did act responsibly and promptly. While I haven't shipped hundreds and hundreds of delicate packages like some folk, I have shipped several dozen, I'd guess, and this is the only problem I've had, either with delivery time or breakage.

I've done quite a few USPS and UPS in the past as well, with no problems there either. I prefer FedEx now because of convenience of drop off and ease of use of home software. I recently shipped a Halli speaker via UPS because the buyer had an account, and that went smoothly as well.

Don't know why I'm so lucky, but I can't complain about any of them. I always double box and use lots of padding, and keep my fingers crossed!

Ron -- Every one has their story to tell. I've never had anything by superb
service from UPS. On the other hand I've been screwed numerous times by
FedEx whenever I've failed to convince the sender not to use FedEx.

My best FedEx story involves receiving a post card from FedEx sent to my
address asking me what my address is...! Gosh, to you think they could read
the address off the post card before sending it and just deliver the package
instead? Also, my telephone number was included in the shipping address
label, but they never bothered to call me. It took 17 days to get my
package delivered from the warehouse 65 miles away to my door -- and that
was after uncounted phone calls and broken promise after broken promise to
deliver.

Out of the hundreds of packages delivered to me by UPS, I've never had a
scratch on a single one.

My eBay profile said "No FedEx, NEVER" until they made me take it down.
