The Belton ones in Int Octal use micalex apparently.

On diyAudio in 2007 there was some discussion about Belton Int Octals with PCB mounting lugs not fitting existing boards in some guitar amps etc. The discussion also described various Chinese-made ceramic sockets as being very poor - weak ceramic mounting ears, low tension springs, weak/small contact surfaces etc. - all defects that would quickly cause trouble in a tester.

The Beltron sockets that AES sells are the most rugged sockets I have seen to datem I would replace you sockets with these, and then put in socket savers as well, perhaps made with the beltron sockets.

I have about 8 milk crates full of tubes to test and my 8 pin octal is getting flaky. The 7 and 9 pin socket savers are getting flaky too.

I would like to replace the black 8-pin with under chassis ring mount and the under chassis screw mount 7 and 9 pin sockets.

Any recommendations/sources for high quality sockets that can withstand a lot of use?
