[c-nsp] HSRP and VLANS

Hey Everyone,
I have a situation where I have configured HSRP utilizing VLANS instead
of ports on my routers/switches.
I have two pieces of equipment in HA mode, and I need to have a gig
interface on each box in the same vlan (in case I lose one of the boxes).
The only way I saw to do this (besides separate switch) was a vlan on my
6509.
The only problem is that when I pull the active connection on the
equipment (my normal way of testing my HSRP configs), both 6509's think
they are active - I am assuming because the vlan is still showing up/up.
Now in the end, if my primary 6509 fails, the vlan will no longer be
active and hsrp will do its job nicely (and when I shut the vlan on the
primary 6509 the hsrp works as it should).
However if I have a physical disconnection between the equipment and my
6509, hsrp will not work.
I guess my questions is this - is there any way to tell the vlan to go
down if it loses a connection to one of the ports that are part of that
vlan...?
Thanks
